I am developing a web site for our coffee roastery.

We want to sell coffee bags online and the user will need to select which type of grind he wants, e.g. Espresso, Filter, Plunger etc.

I just found this cms and wondering before I dive in, will it be possible to add these radio buttons? How complicated will it be?

I looked a bit through the tutorials but couldn't understand much from them which makes me worry a bit.

How do you find developing for this cms?

Hi. There is eCommerce functionality (via PayPal) and a default products catalogue which may suit your purposes, but adding radio buttons shouldn't be difficult if that's what you prefer. Best advice is to download RC8, which should be released shortly and test it out to see if it can meet your needs. I reckon it can

We are not using Paypal or any other gateway.

We send our invoices to the customers and they email us the proof of payment.

Another problem I have is I want to download Composr but on the download page there is only the unstable version and no link to the main version.

Where do I find the main version?

There is no stable release of Composr yet (although the RC's are pretty stable and people are using them on live sites now). Composr is a complete rebrand of ocPortal (of which you can find a stable release at ocportal.com). There are a lot of improvements in Composr, but ocPortal is still pretty awesome (and you can upgrade when Composr goes stable). I would still recommend RC8 over ocPortal, but the choice is yours. You can upgrade from the RC versions too, it is supported.

Once you get it up and running, feel free to ask any questions you may have. If you think there is something missing from the Tutorials you can suggest new Documentation on the Tracker.

Yes, essentially if you're taking orders, it's best just to skip the eCommerce features and set up a raw catalogue with the fields you need, then add a main_contact_catalogues block to a page using that catalogue. That will give you a contact form, that uses the catalogue's fields.

I tried all kinds of cms before and found it very hard to develop my own modules/plugins styling etc. hopefully I will find it easy enough with Composr.

I wish you luck on your project! Personally from my opinion I think Composr CMS is quite easy to develop with, compared to other CMSs. There's something for every level of developer, from miniblocks, to minimodules, to regular blocks and modules, to full-on addons.

If you desire and think your developments would be useful to others in the Composr community, consider submitting an addon(s) of your tools for others to use. By doing so, not only can others use it, but others can also give feedback towards the development of your tools as well.

And always remember, make your customisations as copies inside the suffixed "_custom" folders. That way, your changes are preserved during upgrades and the original code is preserved in case of an issue. It also makes it easier to use a diff merge tool to merge changes via. Composr upgrades to your custom coding.
