Hi,

has anyone come acrosss this issue?

Users online
0 Guests, 0 Members

When I click on the link to view them, the error message is:

"There are too many online users to list."

Below is the stack trace:

Critical error – bailing out
This is an error that has been elevated to critical error status because it occurred during the primary error mechanism reporting system itself (possibly due to it occuring within the standard output framework). It may be masking a secondary error that occurred before this, but was never output - if so, it is likely strongly related to this one, thus fixing this will fix the other.

Hi,

(For reference, this is an ocPortal v9 site)

I took a look at your session table (I still have access), and there really are a lot of hits in it. I then looked at your stats table, and there's a lot of logged bot activity.

You can probably fix your issue by adding this to the end of your robots.txt file…

Code

User-agent: MJ12bot
Disallow: /

User-agent: AhrefsBot
Disallow: /

User-agent: SemrushBot
Disallow: /

User-agent: ZoominfoBot
Disallow: /

User-agent: Buck
Disallow: /

User-agent: trendictionbot
Disallow: /

User-agent: omgili
Disallow: /

User-agent: bbot
Disallow: /

User-agent: brands-bot-logo
Disallow: /

User-agent: brands-bot
Disallow: /

These aren't bots I necessarily specifically saw – it's more like a master list that includes some I saw.

Otherwise you'll need to either raise the Admin Zone > Setup > Configuration > Site options > Maximum users option, or lower the Admin Zone > Setup > Configuration > Site options > Logging > Inactivity for considered departure option.

Increasing maximum users has effect of making ocPortal remember all those users for each page hit (we made it more efficient in future versions), which is a performance factor.

I think you'll likely be fine banning the bots though.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the reply!

We'll try adding these to the robot.txt file, but considering the amount of max users which have been noted of ~ 200 this might not be the cause…checked the admin zone maximum users setting and it is at 400…most sites like ours have 100's of people on at a time and we're trying to get there successfully, so please let Francois know if you can assist us in a demo site to evaluate and possibly upgrade.

Believe that is where we last left it via e-mail conversation between you and him on Feb 8, 2019, 2:27 PM…we are open to that.

Thanks!

Rick

Hi Chris,

Added the robot file but still having an issue…

We are running between 20-90 or so users at peak, and the hosting company is coming back saying the CPU usage is clipping on a regular basis - have have two core allotted to us.

Is there anything you can do for us in a paid setting that would trim this down significantly for us, as it stands they want to raise the monthly charge to $200 US and that sounds awful high to me for the traffic we have.

If so, please point me to a private discussion area of your preference. Didn't want to put in a support request unless it was something you felt could be acheived.

Thanks,

Rick
