#4022
(In Topic #804)
We have nearly concluded the initial designing for our new site, so I thought I'd share:

EDIT: Further process in Dropbox – very nearly passed our internal review.
Let us know in this topic your thoughts!
It will be quite a while until this can go live, as it will be tied into v11, and us becoming much more community-focused. There's a lot on my roadmap to work through before then, but things are progressing:

Looks really good Chris, I know we have talked about this before, will the responsiveness flow really well, like when you shrink a window, will the blocks cascade and fall into place nicely, from desktop to mobile view?
I really like your screen shots, looking great!

This is the compo.sr redesign, not the new theme for v11. Though as stated before, the new v11 theme looks really nice too.

I think you're right, Chris...people are waiting for the new v11 before they do anything. That's a thing, for sure. I think a big part of the issue is that (like you said) Compo.sr is so full of features and it's so complete, that there's not much left to code except to start adding content. In the big picture, that's what people want. They want a CMS that they can install, and then their content can flow into it to make their own awesomeness come alive. That's what Compo.sr provides. I think the only remaining issue was the way Compo.sr handles mobile devices, and that looks like it's solved in v11, so folks are watching and waiting. They have the perfect CMS, and now they hear the perfect theme is coming, so they may wait to dive in to their website project until v11 is out with it's theme. The guy that made those images for v11 did quite a great job, and it adds a touch that other CMS's don't have. Other CMS's use Google fonts of FontAwesome, and that's nice, but it's not custom images. In a big way, Compo.sr is more of a success than other CMS's/Portals because people don't need to write modules and plugins for it. That's a testiment to Compo.sr's robustness and complete feature set. Another huge concern people probably have is if they theme their current Compo.sr site, how will v11 impact their theme? I would think global.css has changed a bit in v11, and if it has, it might blow up the edits people have made to their current theme with the current installs. So folks are thinking... "maybe I better wait for v11 to theme my site."
That being said, I'd be interested to hear what sorts of plugins people would like to have on their Compo.sr site. Or, what kinds of themes are they looking for?

I have a recent version of v11 installed so I can confirm the installer works. I have discovered some issues, for instance the Setup Wizard failed on Step 6 for me, but they are to be expected at this stage and I've not seen any major issues yet.
