Is it possible to notify members of upcoming events?

Hi,

I am attempting to setup a website for a club.  The calendar/event system would be used to schedule meetings and other activities.  At minimum we would like to send an email reminder to the members several days prior to the meeting.   It would also be nice if the email conatained an RSVP mechanism that reported back to Composr.

Is any of this possible and if so how?  (Yeah, I know it's just a SMOP)  

It's possible to set reminders per usergroup, or to allow members to set reminders. They are sent as notifications (on site) but I think it's possible to also send them as email.

I don't have specific step-by-step instructions, but to expand a bit more, here is a general idea of how it could be done with the Calendar and Quizzes addons.

With those addons (Calendar and Quizzes) installed, it's just a matter of adding the event to the calendar with the desired Reminder settings and creating a survey to go along with the event to gather RSVP data. Surveys are part of the Quizzes addon.

Off the top of my head, I'm not sure if the default notifications are Composr private message notifications, email notifications, or both. And I'm not exactly sure what data is sent in the notification. If the notification contains the event description, you can set up a simple Yes/No or Yes/No/Maybe survey asking if the club member is going to attend the meeting. Then you can include a link to that survey in the event description encouraging members to complete the survey to RSVP. As the admin, I believe you have access to the survey results with usernames somewhere under the Audit menu in the admin zone.
