Hello,

Still a newby to this system. Trying to figure out how to limit number of news on the index/main page to a specific number. I was able to locate where it's done in the news component but was unable to locate this limitation for the index. In other words where do I enable pagination for the index page?

Also is there a way to disable user registration whyle keeping the site opened to public?

Thank you

1) Admin Zone > Setup > Configuration > Feature options > News > News entries per-page

2) Admin Zone > Security > Permission Tree Editor
Use the editor to disable guest permissions to the join page.

Hope that helps :)

Thank you very much. Registration was disabled with your help.

Unfortunately the pagination issue for the main page was not addressed by changing a news value number. It only affects the news page but not the front page. Any ideas?

Thank you

It works for me, but actually perhaps you have the "Infinite scrolling" option on.

Infinite scrolling was on> I turned it off but nothing changed for the index page. It works for the news pages but not for the index unfortunately. It does only show 10 news articles. Then I have a link to view all which is linked to the news page. Pagination works there.

Can you clarify what URL the "news index" is please.

Could it be the News categories per-page option? (assuming 'news index' = the list of categories)

URL is start.htm after employing mod_rewrite.

Strange thing I have 9 news items displayed on start.htm.

news.htm corresponds to the number of news in the administration setting

At the bottom of start.htm I have

View all - Add news where View All is linked to news.htm

Ah, I see now. You need to edit the settings of the main_news block on the home page.

Edit the page, and you'll see the block there (as a button in the WYSIWYG editor). Double click that button.
From there you can tune the settings. By default it displays based on days, but you can also set the days to zero and change the fallback settings which allow specifying exact quantities.

I would have never figured this one out on my own, though I have edited that page on a number of occasions.

Thank you very much sir.
