#3528 - Codename RANDOM

This is a spacer post for a website comment topic. The content this topic relates to: #3528 - Codename RANDOM
See screenshots, working for me.
I set Codename as my title, put RANDOM as the Default value and I assumed the RANDOM part would create the codename (which I believed would be uneditable). On Windows it just works like any other field you have enter data into. So did you create the codename, or did the system? Does it have to be the title field to work?

I think the confusion here is that the Custom fields tutorial is talking about "Title"'s, and you're thinking that means that you have to type something into the Title for the field. That's not what it means, it's just saying "A codename (short sequence of numbers and letters, no spaces)" is the title of the field type Composr internally refers to as "codename", i.e. what is shown in the system for you to select to get that field type.

See my screenshot where I select a field type of "A codename (...)". The field title can be anything. And it can be at any field position.

The system created the codename. See the add screenshot, there's actually no fields on that form, as I only had a single field and that was the randomised one.

It works on new entries, but I've had to fill the old ones in manually with a codename. That's where the confusion was, I thought it would update the existing entries once I saved the catalogue.
Oh I see. I'll add a note to another issue about that.
