Actually year selection is there but very poorly designed in the UI... must tap the year at the top of the material design modal.

Leaving this open as we need a better solution for this.

I'm changing this to a feature request. My feeling is that if Android has a bad date picker, it is Android's responsibility to fix it, not every websites responsibility to paper over the problem. iOS is still a better experience than Android from a UX point of view, and I kind of feel users know this and pick accordingly. iPhone's are actually better value for a good device due to Apple's vertical integration, and Android is not as Open Source as Google would like you believe so the ethical argument for Android is a bit weak.
I would like to see screenshots of the issue here instead and/or a link to an upstream bug report.
