I can confirm that this issue also applies to the side_news block.

The issue is probably generate_selectcode_sql

The Select parameter is supposed to select articles by category. But it is generating SQL incorrectly trying to match category IDs on entry IDs instead.

This is a complex bug. Advised someone else picks up the issue as I don't know when/if I can get to it without funding.

I still cannot resolve this issue. I even employed AI to help me think through this with no success.

I disabled support for Selectcode on this block until fixed; the Selectcode parameters will not do any filtering.
