#2035 - Drop e-cards

Why drop something that works okay?

It inserts the image into a nicely formatted email. The alternate option is to download the image and attach to an email but these days users are hardly even able to carry out that task expecting everything to be done in the application. I am always surprised at the larger the lack of PC expertise as the versions of operating system software increment.

Perhaps in the old days you actually had to know what a directory and file was. As for dropping the feature I can't say I have ever used it but that's probably as the images library has not yet had a facelift and upgrade on our system and we have not assigned anyone to that area.
I realise this is very border-line.

The reasoning is that we want to minimise the number of concepts within Composr, by removing things that don't serve much common utility. That makes the system easier to learn, and reduces "bloaty" surprises for sites that want to be straight-forward. Particularly it's a concern as the web constantly advances: we have to add in new concepts over time, but we want to not let that make the product unnecessarily sprawling.

It all comes down to just how much common utility there is in a feature.

However, this said, eCards is rightly integrated with the recommend addon, so it has virtually no overheads of any kind.

Probably this issue will stagnate unless people have strong views. I'll de-vote it myself.
If the intent is to provide it as an addon/tutorial then I vote to drop it from the core. If not, leave it be. KingBast has spoken :P
