Hello everyone,

This is a quick transparency update. I wanted to better clarify how Composr's organizational structure is currently operating on a copyright / financial level.

First off, Composr CMS used to be backed by Chris' company, ocProducts, Ltd., and developers would be paid through his company to work on Composr CMS. ocProducts no longer exists; Chris' life circumstances changed a long while ago and no longer has nearly as much time for Composr.

I am the lead (and currently also only active) developer of Composr CMS. My development work is being funded by Chris directly rather than a company. However, he funds me via my own company, PDStig, LLC. So to break it down:
  • Chris Graham and I are under an independent contract agreement for my development work on Composr CMS via my company, PDStig, LLC. While the contract is binding, there are lenient terms should either of us want to end the contract.
  • I perform work on Composr CMS as my company, PDStig, LLC. And Chris funds said work.
  • However, Composr CMS is not a "PDStig, LLC product", nor does PDStig, LLC directly fund Composr CMS. The product still belongs to Chris Graham (actually, as of v11, the copyright is changing over from ocProducts, Ltd. to Chris Graham directly).
  • Chris Graham is considered a client of PDStig, LLC, and just like other clients, they pay me to do web development work. So the relationship is no different with him / Composr CMS as with other clients of PDStig, LLC.
TL;DR:
  • ocProducts, Ltd. no longer exists.
  • I'm working on its development as a client/developer relationship between PDStig, LLC and Chris Graham.
  • Chris Graham still owns the copyright to Composr CMS, so it is his IP.
  • PDStig, LLC does not directly fund / sponsor Composr CMS nor own any part of it.
We hope especially when v11 reaches stable that others are willing to join the Composr "ecosystem" and offer their own development services to others and contribute to the development of Composr CMS. In v11, Composr will be more of a community project instead of corporate / sponsored.
