Crazy few weeks

Hi all,

I've hardly been active at all the last few weeks.
The reason being I moved into my first house, and it turned out to take a lot more time to get things sorted out than I expected. I'm currently about 70% through that.

I'm trying hard to make it so the responsibilities of being a homeowner don't suck out the time I need to properly support and maintain Composr (as well as actually earn necessary money on commercial work). But at the same time, it is unfortunate that the time investment needed has really pulled me away in the short term - and I'm sorry about that, particularly for all those not receiving topic replies recently.

Here's a couple of things I've done to try and claw back time from the future:
  • Automated lawnmowing - my back lawn now has a really cool robot that cuts the grass. I had to lay a wire track and build a home base for it, but it now works great. I still have to do the front lawn and edges, but that's a lot of time saved.
  • Roomba for vacuuming inside! (and that's not as simple as it should be, as you have to make a house Roomba-safe, otherwise it'll get stuck in various ways or eat up cables).
In progress (and this has been a long term life goal for me, lol) - automating all my blinds opening and closing each day.

But just basic stuff, like buying equipment I never thought I'd need, that clearly became obvious I'd urgently need, like garden hoses. I've had Amazon deliveries every day for about a month, and all that takes time to find, unpack, set up, etc. Probably most people know what this is like but until now I lived a pretty simple life so I could focus on my passions  .

I took a couple of days just replanting grass seed after Wisconsin became Siberia this past winter.

And we had a mouse problem, which took a lot of time to resolve. Those critters really are good at hiding.

And I am still having some problems with US immigration, due to failing bureaucracy, so that's taking up some time to resolve still. That took up most of yesterday.

And all the moving in gave me a bad back, so I haven't been sleeping so well. Currently dealing with that, getting physical therapy.

Anyway, as you can see I am on the forum right now, and I'm going to see what I can do to reply to some topics :) !

Clearly all this indicates how important it is for Composr to not rely too much on me, which is a major part of our upcoming v11 relaunch.

Chris! I had an idea for your automated home; a way to help deligate things out there. You'd mentioned the robot that cuts the grass, and the robot that cleans the floors, but the mouse problem... that's a tricky one. Two ways to solve that issue. (1) put food in a loooong bag and when they enter it, snatch it up and you've captured a mouse. The steel traps work very well, too. These two methods beckon to you to free the little critters at your nearest field, at the very least because they can solve the A* search algorithm without the use of a single transistor. Method (2) for reducing the population of mice is another machine which being of organic nature, can be defined as follows... Kingdom: Animalia, Phylum: Chordata, Class: Mammalia, Order: Carnivora, Suborder: Feliformia, Family: Felidae, Subfamily: Felinae, Genus: Felis, Species: F. catus, Binomial name: Felis catus, Elmer Fud: A Friggin' Cat.

Now for a tough question. And forgive me for asking it, as I know you probably have a lot on your plate. Git shows progress, but I'm wondering how the progress is going on Compo.sr overall? I have to admit, I mean in terms of v11 or a version that incorporates the new graphics, and perhaps adjustments to Mobile-Awareness.

Haha, that was pretty funny. For the record, the mouse problem is long solved, and I'm afraid the solution was not particularly nice so I won't go into details.

For v11 progress, you can see what's going on on the tracker. We have issues tagged with v11, and you can see slowly they are getting marked done. The graphics and mobile improvements were actually done ages ago, most of what remains is some big architectural changes I want to get done with the opportunity of a big release. The v11 branch on git is very much testable by people (but not on real websites).
