few things that came up with a fresh beta8 install.

Code

04-Aug-2025 23:58:30 UTC    Composr    WARNING    No    CAPTCHA generated against blank session - static caching is misconfigured
04-Aug-2025 23:58:19 UTC    Composr    WARNING    No    CAPTCHA generated against blank session - static caching is misconfigured
04-Aug-2025 23:57:30 UTC    Composr    CRITICAL    No    A critical parameter, <kbd>captcha</kbd>, was missing.
04-Aug-2025 23:55:46 UTC    Composr    WARNING    No    CAPTCHA generated against blank session - static caching is misconfigured
04-Aug-2025 22:28:33 UTC    Composr    CRITICAL    No    <div>Startup failed because the critical error language file (lang/EN/critical_error.ini) is missing.</div>
04-Aug-2025 22:28:33 UTC    PHP    ERROR    No    Undefined global variable $FORUM_DRIVER in /sources/web_resources.php on line 313
04-Aug-2025 22:28:33 UTC    PHP    ERROR    No    Undefined global variable $FORUM_DRIVER in /sources/web_resources.php on line 313
04-Aug-2025 22:28:33 UTC    PHP    ERROR    No    Undefined global variable $FORUM_DRIVER in /sources/web_resources.php on line 80

Everything from the beginning to the "div Startup failed…" message happened during the installation steps. That div message showed up after the site was installed, and it critically bailed. A refresh of the screen brought the site back, though.

Ugh, this web_resources is peeing me off. I had this error in testing and thought it was fixed. (The critical error file missing is also related to that one).

As for the CAPTCHA, I'm trying to figure out the generated against blank session warning. It's low importance ATM. However…

Code

04-Aug-2025 23:57:30 UTC    Composr    CRITICAL    No    A critical parameter, <kbd>captcha</kbd>, was missing.

Do you have any idea what file this came from? Stack trace in data_custom/errorlog.php?

I'm trying to get back in to reinstall with some better info. I got myself blacklisted, so I might reboot my router if I can't get whitelisted any other way.

You're doing a great job. Seriously, you rock. The CAPTCHA? Not so much ;)

You got blocklisted again from composr.app? If so I need to look into that again. That should not be happening…

Please keep me updated.

Nope, got banned from Namecheap, my provider. It always happens with Namecheap. Every VPS I've had with them. When you're doing experimental work, or testing, their system freaks out sometimes and bans me. I'll reboot my router.

That's unfortunate. But it might be understandable depending on what you mean by "testing", LOL. Maybe give OVH a try? I'm not sure if they would be any better for VPS. But I've had good luck with them.

Another fresh install

Another pure fresh install of beta8. Last time I installed this beta, I figured it was something I did to cause the errors. Here's a screenshot of today's attempt.

Aside from the problems with beta8, again I have to say that you rock. As far as I can tell, you are the only active coder here. I know Adam and a few others are out there, watching, and sometimes helping out, but, basically, you're the main coder.

Something got broken in beta8. I didn't save any evidence, but just before this install, I tried beta8 and got, basically, Forum 'missing' errors.

PDStig, thanks for your work.

Hello. You confirmed the file exists? And do you keep getting the same error after refresh?

There is a bug that for some reason is now showing itself in beta8 (but has existed for a while now) where language compilation is entering a fail condition where it should not be, usually when FORUM_DRIVER is not yet defined in PHP. I have a (hopeful) fix for beta9. But given my dire financial state, it may be a long time before beta9 comes out as I cannot afford to focus on Composr right now (unless someone pays me to).
