Very low priority issues with the introduction of new PHP

This is not an issue that needs attention because it's probably going to be solved with newer Composr versions, but we have a Member that posts in the Forums. Those Forum posts often contain pictures. Those pictures have filenames with things like ` and ' and " in them. The post does save to the database, but Composr deletes the IMG tag because of the unusual characters. I usually go in and download the pics, rename them, and create the post for them again, so it's not a high level issue. A similar issue exists with the same Member when attempting to send Private messages/Topics to other members. That's because (probably) their nickname has a ' in it.

Just tells me "Error accured" followed by:
Either you (“'Light'”) have lost access between the time of the link you clicked appearing and now, you have found a bug, or you are jumping into URLs.

I have offered to try to change their nickname to remove the ' mark as a fix.

 

The last bit about "lost access between" seems to be some kind of subtle bug where we're not applying permissions consistently, rather than something username-related. I have just finished scouring the code to make it more consistent applying permissions, as it's very complex and subtle.

Likely there is something the user lacks to create a PT. Check they have the "Create Private Topics" privilege. Check whoever they are trying to talk to hasn't set limited access to who they allow PTs from.
