Summary808: CK Editor issue with IE8
DescriptionI tried to edit a Wiki page at work today where we get to use IE 8 as the corporate standard, and I noticed that some of the controls for the CK Editor were not working. The main one I noticed was that I could not assign a text type (Header 1, Header 2, etc) to a bit of text. The page was showing a notice of a javascript error at the bottom of the browser window.

I'm only reporting this because I thought IE 8 is still supposed to be among the supported browsers. But I never use it at home, so I wouldn't have seen this otherwise.

I forgot to add, this was on a v9.01 site.

Automated response: CKEditor part-broken on IE8

Bugs in CKEditor stop it running reliably. We need to update CKEditor.

Also we need to write a Linux shell script people can run if they want to update CKEditor themselves, and that we can run to keep it up-to-date more easily in the future.

A hotfix (a TAR of files to upload) have been uploaded to this issue. These files are made to the latest intra-version state (i.e. may roll in earlier fixes too if made to the same files) - so only upload files newer than what you have already. Always take backups of files you are replacing or keep a copy of the manual installer for your version, and only apply fixes you need. These hotfixes are not necessarily reliable or well supported. Not sure how to extract TAR files to your Windows computer? Try 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.org/).
