Thanks Sholzy :). |

You looked like you were getting bored so I thought I'd give you something new to do. ;-) |

Okay, so when I posted this, I was thinking more widely that there's a temptation for people to clutter their start pages with too many blocks, but that people do it because showing top and recent content is actually a worthwhile thing. Additionally, there is the issue that if you dig deeper into site navigation, just listing entries can be boring and barren. This solves both issues, by putting the interest back onto categories, decluttering as it does. With this in mind - I will see what other content types may benefit from this kind of thing. |
|
No problem, even if you need to adjust the cost. :) |
|
Cost is unchanged - I just wanted to document the philosophy of it, as I think it was logging the design consideration somewhere. |

Automated response: Summarise content on some top-level index/category screens Summarise top/recent content: - A catalogue's index. - A catalogue's A-Z - Catalogue categories (disabled by default) - Galleries (disabled by default, as unclear what should be shown, and gallery is already rather intense) - Download categories (just the root category by default) - Download A-Z Intentionally this has not been done for anything ephemeral, such as IOTDs, news, and polls. Also, not done for things people are unlikely to want it for (e.g. banners or quizzes). Also, not done for things that are laid-out in detail by default, such as the calendar or forum. People can deploy for other content types, or customise, by reference to how it is already done. This is entirely templating (with some necessary fixes/changes to content pullout code). |

A hotfix (a TAR of files to upload) have been uploaded to this issue. These files are made to the latest intra-version state (i.e. may roll in earlier fixes too if made to the same files) - so only upload files newer than what you have already. Always take backups of files you are replacing or keep a copy of the manual installer for your version, and only apply fixes you need. These hotfixes are not necessarily reliable or well supported. Not sure how to extract TAR files to your Windows computer? Try 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.org/). |
