Summary | 1842: Unsubscribe from Staff Site Emails is too difficult
Description | I have been getting complaints about how hard it is to unsubscribe from our Staff Site Emails. Composr currently works by taking you to the login page (if you are not logged in) and then straight to your profile, there you can uncheck "Receive newsletters and other site updates" and then save - however if you have some mandatory fields that were set mandatory more recently than when you joined (some as long as 10 years ago) you have to correct them first before you can save. Ideally I think that you should be able to hit Unsubscribe in the email you receive and not have to do anything else and the site would take you to a page offering a link to re-subscribe and say sorry you are leaving etc. How hard would it be to uncheck the box and save the profile ignoring any mandatory fields ? I guess the url would need to be encrypted or obscured in some way so as not to make it easy for someone to unsubscribe other people by altering the URL.

Hi, I've edited this to reflect that it isn't actually newsletters (which already has one-click-subscribe), but when members are emailed via the newsletter module. It might seem like a subtle difference, but the member emailing was designed on the basis of having a member account being a higher qualifier for wanting to receive the emails and the owner being willing to configure it as required. Of course, it would be good to have on-click-subscribe for members too, and it would be good to adjust the code to allow easy re-subscription. |

I take it that you meant a one click unsubscribe ? Cheers Ade |

This was done at some point, forgot to mark this done. |
