Summary1595: Cannot add a "main_cc_embed" block to my comcode page
DescriptionHi,
I am trying to make use of the custom catalogue work that Composr developed for me last year.
We had a catalogue with a codename of AG2013ss and some custom code was developed so that unique entries would be honoured, AG2013ss is hard coded into this.
So this year I wanted to retain last years entries and create a new catalogue, I have created the catalogue AG2014ss and added all the fields that I need.

If I try and create an entry for this new catalogue it creates but then says that staff need to validate it:
http://vwgolfmk1.org.uk/AG2014/index.php?page=childss&redirected=1

Now I know that I have the catalogue ID wrong in both the main page and the AG2014:childss page. However I have drawn a blank on how to find out the new ID, hence last years entries showing.
I went back to the documentation that you delivered which says I should see the ID when a catalogue entry is created or I can get it by adding a main_cc_embed block - when I try and use this block, first of all the AG2014ss does not appear in the list and it will not let me enter that block at all.

Appreciate some help here.

Cheers
Ade

This would need to be within your support ticket with us. The tracker is only intended for issues with code in a public version of Composr (or future versions of it), not private development or support.

That said by "I have the catalogue ID wrong", I think you mean "catalogue category ID", as the main_cc_embed block embeds catalogue categories (also catalogues have codenames, not IDs).
To find the ID of a catalogue category, look to see what is in the edit URL for that category.

It seems you don't actually have any categories in your AG 2014 catalogue, hence why nothing would show for selection. You'll need to add one. Without categories, a catalogue is just an empty shell with nowhere for anything to go.

I did just consider whether it should auto-create a category when adding a catalogue, but I think this would cause more problems than it would solve. Typically a non-tree catalogue will have a number of considered categories, only having a single is an exception to the rule (makes sense in your case, as it is all being piped through a single block).

Hi Chris,
Yes that now makes sense - thanks for guiding me. I have the category inside the catalogue now.

However I still cannot add a "main_cc_embed" block to my comcode page using the Add Block button from the non wysiwyg editor.
Hitting the use or preview buttons do not do anything

Cheers

Ah, I think this is an issue with the mentioning code actually. It messed with the form field system a bit, IIRC - didn't realise it caused such a problem though. Debugging...

Ah. Turns out you were right to make it a general bug report ;).

This was probably affecting everyone. Complex Javascript bug.
