Facebook add-on doesn't appear to work

I have installed the Facebook add on on Compo.sr 10.14.

However, I can't see how it changed anything. I expected to see a Facebook log in ability, as well as "Like" and "Share" buttons on News, Blogs and Forum postings. I have cleared cache, as well as tried on my tablet and smart phone.

Did I miss something in the setup? The installation seemed to go fine.

Hi,

Did you follow all the instructions in the addon description?

There's lengthy configuration required, including setting up an app on Facebook.

Yes, I missed the FB app set up, which is now done. It advises to paste it anywhere in  the "<body>" of the page you want it to show on. I can see the "<body>" tag when I view the source, however, when I invoke "Edit this page" it brings up a Comcode page. Looking at the "source" within that page does not show any <"body"> tag. I've tried searching through the forums and the tutorials, and nowhere does it indicate how I can directly access HTML editing.

The <"body"> tag obviously exists, otherwise it would not show when viewing the source.

Went back and saw that there is a FB syndication/login menu item under "Setup" in the admin section. I walked through that setup, and got the following message:

Facebook authorisation

Successfully authorised Facebook posting. Applicable posts now show up on your Facebook page/user/group.

So apparently that was successful.

My confusion is that there is no where I see how to add the login and "Like" buttons that would interact with FB. Signing out, and clearing cache, then attempting to join to see if FB login will work does nothing other than bringing up the normal Join screens.

I must still be missing some steps.

I also wondered how you send a forum post or a news item to FaceBook as on this site I only see the like button.

Hi,

I think I see where the confusion lies now actually. We used to include all the instructions in the addon description, but we moved them out to an extensive tutorial:

Composr Tutorial: Facebook Support

Open Source CMS with advanced social, interactive and dynamic features. Fully flexible, themeable and extendible: suitable for building powerful websites.

Please read through that.

The addon changes the share button to a like button, which should do a similar thing but it's more automated and associated to your Facebook Page / profile.

Thanks once again. Looks like I have some studying and experimenting to do.
