| Description | It is possible that a non-member may request download/purging of their data. But/and because people may share IP addresses from time to time especially when in public settings, the IP address field needs special consideration. Do the following:
* If IP address provided but nothing else, then this will match content that matches the IP address *and* the guest user (but not any logged-in members). We assume in this use case, a guest user wants their data removed (if a member wanted their data removed, we almost certainly would specify either a username, member ID, or e-mail address additionally). Therefore, the data should not cross with any site members in the event a guest user might have shared an IP with a site member but is not the same person. * If an IP address is provided with one or more of the other fields, then it should match accordingly *or* match just the IP address with a guest member. Since page hits etc happen before a member logs in, they certainly will have records as a guest member logged. We are not as worried about accidentally downloading / purging data belonging to a guest user who is actually a different person from a site member. It is assumed generally-speaking that guest user data is temporary. |
