| Description | For a while now at least, my website's news system isn't correctly utilizing comcode. For example, it won't translate links automatically nor will it translate emoticons. I'm not so sure about other forms of comcode as I don't really use them on my site. |
| Steps to reproduce | 1. Add a news article. Include emoticon codes as well as unlinked hyperlinks. 2. Upon checking the new news article, it didn't process the links nor emoticons. |
| Additional information | I don't think the news is the only place I've had this issue. I believe it's also been true for descriptions of new media gallery entries and such. I do know for a fact it works in newsletters as well as forum/comment posts. |

The exact reasons are complex, related to exactly what can be parsed, but it is changing in v10.
