| Description | We pick a top competitor, perhaps one that has had recent bad-press, and we make an importer for them, and a tutorial explaining how to switch to Composr. We then do active marketing, and set up a forum where we give some free support to all the people switching.
Migration is something I've also thought about a lot, the idea is called "switch months" - for a month we pick one competitor, and make sure we have a good importer, clear documented benefits over them, and good instructions - and we provide extra free support during that month for those users. Our general approach to migration is supporting "interchange formats". For example, the news system can import RSS feeds. The calendar system can import iCal feeds. We could do videos for that. |
