Summary | 1580: Anti-spam settings in Composr | ||||
Description | Removing Guest access to submit things Ranks with bypass-validation disabled on lower ranks, providing further protection even if a user joined CAPTCHA, including mention of how you can: 1) disable noise (decreases security, increases usability) 2) enable CSS CAPTCHA (increases security, as it stops the spammer feeding a direct image into OCR software - forces bots to be able to render CSS first); a non-standard anti-spam innovation in Composr The RBL/stopforumspam settings Discussion of how to make a spam report on the forum: a) What exact anti-spam/Guest-security settings are set up in Composr b) Where the spammer is getting through c) Their IP address d) Their user-agent Avoid being anecdotal or emotional - give clear and concise facts. Then hopefully someone can tell you what case category you are in: a) Incorrect Composr set up - in which case someone may be able to advise b) Manual spammer attack (sometimes spammers actually do manually solve CAPTCHAs, outsourcing them to low-wage countries, or tying them to the ability to start playing a video on a piracy website) c) Insufficient protection within Composr - in which case we can consider making Composr improvements Letting users report posts of spammers, in case the moderators don't check everything.
