Another vote for 2, the vertical links allow space for any future profile addons.

Whatever style that is I think would look nice as an addon theme for Composr overall

Quick note - when this is implemented we can increase the spacing for the default tab styles a bit (i.e. for everything), as space will be less tight. Right now it is very tight only due to the number of tabs on member profiles.

This is now being implemented into the feature__new_profile_layout git branch.
