Using control functions dropdown and Edit Topic will present you an Edit Topic screen. There, a description field is provided.
The description field isn't showing for me, Title, Reason, Topic Emoticon, but no description field to edit.

Also notice there's no status icon in the first column, I definitely haven't edited anything forum wise.
Okay there must be some special condition causing it to disappear on your end. I'll look into it more.
Please report the missing emoticon as a separate issue if you can for changelog purposes.
@Adam Edington There is a config option called is_on_topic_descriptions under Forum Options. This needs to be enabled for you to get the description field. The topic also must not be threaded. Please check to ensure the option was enabled and the topic was not threaded. If so, I'll investigate further.
I believe it is enabled and the forum itself is set to threaded mode for the wider view it gives. Still seems odd to not be able the description because of a display choice.
I'll look into it and see if I can figure out why it's like that and if it needs to be
Composr does not currently support the display of descriptions on threaded mode screens. That's why the field is hidden when using threaded mode.

I've changed this issue to a feature request for v11... to support the display of descriptions on threaded mode templates / screens.
Thanks, I'll switch to linear to edit then change back to threaded then :) I don't mind it not being shown, it's the fact I can't edit the description that's weird to me as that shows elsewhere.

Chris what is the purpose of changing this back to a bug?

Users can switch between threaded and non-threaded mode arbitrarily. If a value is enterable in one mode, it should be moderatable from either.
Got it, so threaded mode not supporting descriptions is not intended functionality.

It was probably intended to strip back the UI for threaded mode. Fix might be to show edit field but only if already populated. I'd have to check in more detail to suggest more.
