Now that the colours are moved out to _colours.css, there's no worry about unnecessary overriding done by the Theme Wizard. And pre-computing is more flexible (we're not limiting to CSS spec) and performant.

Less images are overridden by the Theme Wizard. I don't think it's good to try and re-tint them in CSS. Not performant, and makes it harder for the user to tweak them themselves.
