I've just changed all but one of my galleries from flow-mode. The interface looks dated and I find it hard to use one you get beyond a about 7 or 8 images. I like the suggested solution above.

If the flow mode interface is removed, the thumbnails should be made to a uniform size by matting them on a standard canvas size so that they layout in a proper grid

Dropping this.

Flow-mode has since been improved, as has non-flow-mode.

Attachments and overlays have been improved, so if people want to use overlays instead of galleries, good for them.

For many though, flow-mode is nice, because it provides the full set of commenting features etc, while allowing convenient browsing.
