I still can't reproduce this.
I added another event, edited in another language, and viewing in each language works perfectly.
What's even more strange is the <title> element (presumably what you are seeing as the tab label) comes from exactly the same place as the screen header.
The code looks fine, I can't see any problems at all.
Evidence of the tab being different from the screen title would help.
No real urgencyas this is not something I am intending to use right now. Was just interested if I could (once I work out how to make the block update via cron so it doesn't show events that have passed) fully translate the entries. If you cannot reproduce it then I think it's likely to not affect the majority of users.
You shouldn't need the calendar block to update via CRON unless you explicitly set it to do so in the block's cache option when you added it, which wouldn't be worthwhile for that block. That option is only useful for slow-generating blocks like RSS.
I still can't track down the issue. All I can think is if you translated the 'CALENDAR_EVENT_VCAL' language string to 'Guild showdown', which would cause it to always say that rather than an events true title. Which seems very unlikely. Could you confirm though that different events are actually showing different titles, it's not that every event is now 'Guild showdown'?
Created a new event, Guild Wars, then switched to German and made the translation. When viewing in German this event has the title Guild Showdown (url moniker and browser tab title are correct). When viewing the entry in English everything is correct. I guess I should try the same experiment in French and see if that results in the same issue. Perhaps it's an issue in the language pack?
As a side issue to this, trying to rename events in other languages (DE and FR so far) results in an error message about an event not being able to end before it begins, so I cannot edit the title in French to see if it takes. Maybe something to do with local timezones being enabled for the events? Although the event date for the one I'm editing is February 4th, so probably not that.
Okay, it seems that error disappears after about 5 minutes. Managed to rename the event in French and the French title displays correctly, so it's most likely an issue in the German language pack.
I still can't reproduce, that includes the error about events ending before they start :(.
I tested with the German and French language packs, on both Chrome and Firefox.
The error disappearing on its own is also pretty bizarre.
I couldn't reproduce. See screenshots.
Please clarify what "the page" is. I assumed it is the event view page, but I could not reproduce on there.

should work. I'd need to be around at the right time of course.
And generally if anything really breaks for no good reason, please do ask me to help - I really want to track down any hard-to-reproduce glitches.
