Denied translation languages - why

Hi all,

From time to time we're getting erroneous requests on Transifex to open up a translation in some particular language.

We actually have all major languages set up, but Transifex allows you to request variant translations. For example, we have ja (Japanese) open and I just denied a request to open ja_jp which specifies the version of Japanese specifically spoken in Japan. Unless I have a lack of understanding in the diversity of this language, even if Japanese is spoken in other countries than Japan, we'd only ever want one version, the canonical ja.

I just wanted to explain this in case people think the denies are rebuffs, it's just us trying to to keep things correctly consolidated.
