How to place pictures as advertisements

I want to place pictures as advertisements on a right or left panel of the portal with html code, how to do that ?

If you just mean you want to directly put in your own HTML, and don't want to involve Composr's banner addon, then you can easily put in whatever custom HTML you want into panels.
Just edit the panel page (or use the zone editor), click the button to go into the WYSIWYG source code view, and paste in the code.
If you don't have WYSIWYG on then you need to put the HTML within Comcode 'html' or 'semihtml' tags.
