Installing Composr V10 with latest Current Stable PHP 7.1.3

Before I perform the install, will Composr v10.x work with

Current Stable PHP 7.1.3

1.) Will there be any hicups in the future when v11 is realeased using Current Stable PHP 7.1.3 ?
2.) I will be modifying CSS heavily. Will the upgrade in the future make my new themes a headache? Or seemless?
3.) When I create a /newtheme with the wizard, all the CSS that I should edit is located in the /newtheme folder correct?

Thanks

Hi,

  1. 7.1.3 is and will be fine.
  2. We do have to change the CSS and templates around across major new versions. Changes in v10.1 are going to be small. Changes in v11 are likely to be significant as we're making the default theme support responsive design in addition to the current desktop/mobile mode paradigm; and probably changing the CSS coding standards also. That's just a fact of life unfortunately, we need to keep reworking the styles as things progress and I don't believe there's any way to handle auto-upgrading except for the simplest of themes.
  3. Not quite. It will only override CSS files that actually have their own colour equations. IIRC that's about 3. The rest would need to be copied through to /themes/newtheme/css_custom manually. If you edit using the inbuilt CSS editor then it'll do that automatically.

I forgot to ask the ETA on V11?  3 months, 6 months away or more?

Hi,

We don't produce ETAs I'm afraid, as development work has to fit between projects and incorporate work from projects.
We also don't know how long testing will take. v10 was in testing over a year until it met our release criteria.
