Description I propose a new catalogue field type: multiple checkboxes.

I'd like to be able to specify the name(s) of the checkboxes, and have submitters be able to check (or leave them blank) when submitting entries.

You could set it up as:
Field type: multiple-checkboxes
Field title: Gaming platforms
Options: Mac, PlayStation 2, Windows

Which would render on the submitting screen as:
Gaming platforms: Mac [X], PlayStation 2 [ ], Windows [X]

And render in the catalogue or Comcode page as:
Gaming platforms: Mac, Windows
