I now did the wizard twice, tweaking every option there is towards not having a rank ladder, but in the end always got one (or at least the usergroups for it). The wording in the tutorial actually makes me expect an explicit option like <i>disable rank ladder</i> which I couldn't find.

I hope for a clarifying sentence to make people understand how to achieve a configuration with 'Members' usergroup without ladder. If no longer possible, please say so.
The next question coming to the reader's mind might be how to disable it manually. <i>What if I delete all except Newbie group?</i> Technically, that's possible. Will high ranked users still be dropping out of that group then? If not, that might be a solution worth mentioning here. Or is there a better one?
Steps to reproduce

Install 10.2.4 with automatic extractor.

Run wizard, choose minimal settings and disable everything possibly connected to the rank ladder.

Turns out that there is no group <i>Members</i>, but the rank ladder groups (Newbie, Local Hero, ...) are created.
