| Description | Management of configuration between staging and live sites is very complex.
You may have configuration that is there for local use only (e.g. whether the site is closed, or an option saying whether the site is a staging site) - and you may have options to be synched. Ideally you'd be able to easily sync stuff selectively without needing a programmer or having to repeat doing it all by-hand. If a site was configured as a staging site each config option would have in the UI a choice of whether it was to be synched or not. in Commandr-FS these would be then placed into 2 separate directories in addition to the existing etc directory (maybe 'etc-synched' and 'etc-local'). You could then copy things over using WebDAV easily enough. Also whenever making changes, the bottom of the config option form would have a 'Reason' field. Each config option would then get a revision history listing showing all the history for that option and the reason given for the edits. This would be built on the Composr revision history feature somehow. |
