Description	I have monitored this for several days as I was waiting to see notifications from new members joining. No indication in the top menu bar when admin logs in showing that there are awaiting notifications or messages unread. I have to manually click to review them. Also noting that once handled or reviewed they remain in the area and don't seem to have an option to delete them or that they get removed once an action is applied. I think maybe a dot indicator over the icon telling you of new notifications awaiting would be cool and as they are handled deleted from the box cue.... Just a thought

There's not enough information here to confirm an issue, as we can't review your notification settings or see a screenshot showing what the icons look like. Opacity is used to indicate if there are new notifications and you may just not be aware. #2521 deals with making it more obvious.

"don't seem to have an option to delete them" - neither does Facebook when I just checked. I think it is normal practice to have read/not-read on individual notifications, not a deletion feature.
