| Description | Run drives on Kickstarter over say 3 months, to fund 1 month coding sprints on the top voted tracker items.
This allows large numbers of people to easily contribute, without having to also choose tasks. It allows funding of things that individuals may not need, but all together make for a better product. I greatly prefer the Patreon campaign idea (#2755), but I wanted this to be open for consideration also. |

| Additional information | My main worries with Kickstarter are:
1) I don't want to create a situation where most of the incoming funds are going back out again in individual perks rather than product development. 2) We need to do ongoing work, but I don't want us to have to spend a significant effort creating buzz for a kickstarter every 6 months. Again, it would seriously distract from product development. |
