| Description | Our Zencoder support needs re-writing. They are no longer supporting XML, which our implementation uses. Implementing JSON support should not take long at all, however it will mean a full end-to-end re-test will be needed. This will mean changing the code, setting up a non-firewalled test site, creating a Zencoder test account, and tracking that gallery and attachment videos continue to function correctly. Simple stuff, but lots of hoops to jump through so it will take a few hours.
As Composr is Open Source and nobody is funding our Zencoder support currently, we'd need someone to sponsor the change. |

| Additional information | All necessary because some folks at Zencoder presumably don't like XML. I am sympathetic, but so much for developers doing well by coding to the accepted web standards ;-). And, so much for Zencoder being a simple solution to transcoding compared to setting up FFMPEG, if they will dump availability of their old APIs and force people to change the implementation - the FFMPEG command parameters have survived during that period. Makes you consider whether web services really make things simpler or not :P. |
