| Description | Top level description... How to use WinMerge to see what has changed in CSS/templates after an upgrade, and apply the changes to your own overrides.
Tutorial would involve... 1) Downloading WinMerge (mention equivalent tools exist on other platforms). Installing on your local desktop machine. 2) Downloading old version of Composr, manual installer: http://compo.sr/site/downloads/entry/releases/version-9/Composr-version-9_10.htm 3) Downloading new version of Composr, manual installer: http://compo.sr/site/downloads/entry/releases/version-9/Composr-version-9-0-15_2.htm 4) Unzipping each 5) Using directory diff to compare themes/default/ from each of the versions. Show lots of screenshots indicating the differences. 6) Mention that you can then manually apply shown changes into your own theme, by making equivalent edits to what has happened between the Composr releases. 7) Mention if you're not sure what your theme was original built from, you can download the 'themes' directory from your web server to your machine, and then compare the '*.editfrom' files. For example, comparing themes/mytheme/css_custom/global.css.editfrom to themes/default/css/global.css will show all changes made it in the default global.css since you made your theme. This works as we copy the default file to the .editfrom file when you first make your theme's overridden copy. It's a useful technique. |
